The Concept of Globalization and Poverty; A Theoretical Appraisal
Abstract
Globalization is seen from the point of view of a worldwide process by which the people of the world are incorporated into a single world society or globalization society. This is normally accompanied by the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distance location in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice- verse. Its many characteristics include the internationalization of production, the new international division of labour, new migratory movements from south to north, the new competitive environment that accelerates these processes, and the internationalizing of the state i.e. making states into agencies of the globalizing world. The present paper is on the concept of globalization and poverty, a theoretical appraisal.
